Project Progression Week 1

To begin our project, Adriana and I began with the layout of our magazine. We downloaded the InDesign app to begin the process. We used our paper layout to guide us through what we wanted our magazine to look like. We changed the backgrounds, edited font sizes, created titles to our articles and much more. The image attached is the cover page to our magazine and the dark gray spots are the outline of the athletes we want to have on the cover page.

Flatplan

  This is a flat plan of our magazine we plan to follow as we construct our magazine that is organized by articles, ads, titles. colors and text.

Mood Board

 To bring our magazine to life, we created a mood board to demonstrate our inspiration for the board through inspiration pictures, colors, and fonts.

Target Audience

 To find an idea of how much people are involved and engaged in sports magazines, we created a survey to find out. Here's our results:

My Magazine Project

For the final project, I am working with Adriana Nolen and we chose to do the magazine. The genre we decided on for the magazine is sports.

History of Sports Illustrated

Henry Luce, the creator of  Time Magazine, also founded Sports Illustrated, a monthly sports magazine, in 1954. It is the top sports publication in the country. Luce founded Sports Illustrated in an effort to expand the range of magazines that Time Inc. controlled. Henry Luce had little interest in sports. However, he thought that something was missing from the American media scene in the early 1950s: a sports-focused Time-style magazine. The media magnate succeeded in his efforts over the objections of numerous advisors who viewed sports as an insignificant subject and attempted to discourage him from it. The weekly magazine's debut edition was published on August 16, 1954. The ESPN magazine is known throughout the word and has over 106 million readers. The target audience of this magazine is young men who are dedicated to sports. This magazine is summarized to along with celebrating sports, they also honor the cultures and ways of life that are fundamental to them, all highlighted by ESPN's distinct character and authority.
